IN MEMORY OF JACK COHEN

We received the following testimonial from a close family member of our long standing, loyal member, the late Jack Cohen.

“I called the Club up on Monday of this week to advise that my Uncle Jack Cohen had passed away on 3rd July and requested your details so I could write to you to express my extreme gratitude for everything the Club had done for him over the years.

Uncle Jack had lived around the corner from the Club for the past 43 years and he and his late wife requented the club a few times a week. When she passed away over 5 years ago I organised home care and outings but every day at some time he was at the Club.

He developed Alzheimer’s gradually and had been in Moran Nursing Home at Sylvania for just over a year until his passing on Sunday.

Your staff – every department knew him and cared for him. He loved the horses and spent a great deal of his time at the TAB with Maria – who is just wonderful and she would call me if he was not well. The Bristro staff all knew him too and loved him as he would have something to eat there every day. The gentlemen at reception all knew him too as when I came to picj him up they would advise me where he was!

Your security guards on numerous occasions brought him home at 8pm in the evening as he did not realise how late it was and also cold or wet. Everyone got to know me by name as I used to call the club to see if he was there. As I live in the East and not around the corner, it was not very easy for me to monitor his movements. Very often people complain but not often enough do they praise.

I can’t thank your staff enought for looking after Uncle Jack and being there for him every day. I would also appreciate if you could pass on my thanks to them.”

Kind regards, Dinah
